“Negotiate your own writing goals and audience expectations regarding conventions of the genre, medium, and rhetorical situation”
I’ve never thought about or utilized this quote in my writing because, at the time, it didn’t feel necessary. However, after reading it again, I realized how significant it is. Setting your own goals in writing lets you know what exactly to write about and consider your genre, media, and rhetorical situation. This all helps to create a more efficient process for writing by knowing exactly what you want to accomplish. I’ve done this without even realizing it when creating mini abstract homework assignments for each of my major assignments. As shown in figure 1, my group and I have laid out exactly what we want to include in our lab report and how we will approach it.
